What Are Fermented Foods?

Fermented foods are defined as foods or beverages that are produced through controlled microbial growth. They undergo a natural fermentation process that improves their digestibility and increases their probiotic content.

Fermented foods are rich in probiotic bacteria such as Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium, which promote gut health and support immune function.3

Traditional Ayurvedic fermented foods include yogurt, buttermilk, fermented rice, and fermented vegetables. These foods are rich sources of beneficial probiotic bacteria such as Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium strains which promote gut health and support immune function.3
