Fasting to Reset Digestive System?

Fasting can help the digestive system to heal, reset and recalibrate, by allowing the body to take a break from constant food intake. It is important to fast safely and consider individual health needs.

  1. Fasting can help the digestive system by giving it a break from constantly digesting and absorbing food. During a fast the digestive organs are not working to digest food and this rest allows organs to recover from any damage caused by overeating or poor food choices.1
  2. Fasting may have a positive impact on the gut microbiome. Research suggests that fasting can change the composition and function of gut bacteria, potentially promoting a healthier microbiome.2
  3. Chronic inflammation in the digestive tract can cause various digestive disorders such as Irritable Bowel Syndrome and Inflammatory Bowel Disease. Fasting can help reduce inflammation in the gut, providing relief for individuals with such digestive issues. Many people have reported improvements in digestive symptoms, including bloating, gas and indigestion after fasting.
