How Long to Fast to Reset Digestive System?

Fasting can help reset your digestive system, but the duration of the fasting period may vary depending on your individual needs and goals. Generally a few hours to a few days of fasting is sufficient.

When you fast you give your digestive system a break and help it reset.1 Intermittent fasting has been associated with various digestive benefits including improved gut bacteria, reduced bloating and better digestive function.2 Within the first week or two you may experience changes in your energy levels, hunger cues and digestion.3  The effects of fasting can vary from person to person.
