What Vegetables Have Protein?

Several vegetables are good sources of protein such as spinach, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, peas and asparagus.

Yes, you heard that right: vegetables contain protein!

Although they may not be exceptionally high in protein compared to other food groups, some vegetables contain relatively high amounts of protein.

Vegetables are otherwise packed with essential vitamins, minerals and dietary fiber, making them powerful staples to include in your diet.

Here are some protein-rich vegetables:

  • Spinach contains approximately 2.9 grams of protein per 100 grams. In addition to protein, spinach is also rich in iron, calcium, vitamin K, and antioxidants.1
  • Broccoli contains approximately 2.8 grams of protein per 100 grams. Broccoli is also high in vitamin C, vitamin K, fiber and various phytonutrients with antioxidant properties.2
  • Brussels sprouts contain approximately 3.4 grams of protein per 100 grams. Brussels sprouts are also rich in fiber, vitamin C, vitamin K and antioxidants.3
  • Peas contain approximately 5.4 grams of protein per 100 grams. Peas are also high in fiber, vitamin C, vitamin A and various B vitamins.4
  • Asparagus contains approximately 2.2 grams of protein per 100 grams. Asparagus is also a good source of fiber, folate, vitamin K and antioxidants.5
